ManTech seeks a motivated career and customer-oriented Cyber Security Software Engineer to join our team locally in the Washington DC area. This is currently a remote position.

The Cyber Security Software Engineer will work in support of Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) program under NAVSEA contract. This position will focus on developing, maintaining, and enhancing cybersecurity systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working as a mid-level RPM package maintainer with emphasis on injecting cybersecurity features into pre-existing applications and packaging them for use in DoD applications

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance software systems, focusing on Linux systems administration, automation, and scripting, particularly in Python

  • Build and maintain C/C++ applications to meet mission requirements

  • Work with virtualized environments, including KVM and Xen, to support software development and deployment

  • Ensuring system-level requirements are met, including writing test cases, scenarios, and procedures

  • Execute test procedures, analyze results, and produce detailed trouble reports to support system developers and subject matter experts

  • Participate in Test and Evaluation (T&E) of cybersecurity systems, with a focus on software certification

  • 20% of Travel to Dahlgren, VA, Washington DC, Philadelphia, PA to support test events and meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering

  • Advanced RHEL certification (like RHCE)

  • Experience with Linux systems administration, scripting/automation, and Python programming, maintaining C/C++ applications, virtualized environments (KVM, Xen)

  • Must possess an active cybersecurity certification to meet compliance with IAT II Cybersecurity Workforce IA requirements (ex. Security+, CISSP, CCNA Security, CySA+, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in operations and build toolchains

  • Familiarity of Operational Technology, like ICS and SCADA systems

Clearance Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required and an active Secret clearance, or ability to gain an interim secret clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote working environment

  • A dedicated, quiet, and ergonomically appropriate workspace conducive to productivity

  • Ability to sit at a desk or workstation for extended periods while working on a computer

  • Occasional movement within the office for communication and accessing resources
